Overview
Security Dog Handlers across the UK.
A trained security dog and handler cover ground faster than an officer alone, detect intruders by scent and sound, and deter most people before they try. We deploy dog handler teams for large open sites, construction compounds, vacant property, industrial yards and other higher-risk locations in London and across the UK.

K9 teams patrol perimeters, search buildings and open areas, and support static officers at night. We assess whether a dog team is proportionate to the risk, agree the patrol plan and welfare arrangements, and make sure warning signs are in place before deployment.

Professional 24/7 K9 Security London & UK Businesses Trust
Some sites need more than static security or standard patrols. Large compounds, open land, poorly lit boundaries, and premises repeatedly targeted can be difficult to cover with fixed security guards alone.
Our professional dog units work as part of a wider security plan. Security dog teams can support access control, perimeter patrols, CCTV monitoring, alarm response and existing security teams.
Dogs quickly sense movement, sound, and changes in their surroundings. A dog’s hearing and sense of smell can help the handler detect activity in dark, exposed, or hard-to-monitor areas.

FAQs
Security Dog Handlers: questions.
When is a security dog the right choice?
Dog teams suit large or open sites, places with repeated break-ins, and locations where a lone officer would be at risk. For lower-risk sites, patrols or CCTV are usually more proportionate. We recommend the right option after a survey.
Are security dogs safe around the public?
Dogs are always under the handler’s control and handlers are trained to deploy them proportionately. Warning signs are displayed, as the Guard Dogs Act 1975 requires.
Do dog handlers need an SIA licence?
Yes, if they are guarding premises under contract. The dog does not need a licence, but the handler does.
When Should You Use K9 Security?
K9 security can be particularly useful for large, exposed or repeatedly targeted sites where fixed guarding alone may not provide enough coverage. It is often used on construction sites, vacant properties, industrial estates, logistics yards and commercial premises where valuable equipment, stock or materials need protecting outside normal working hours. A dog and handler team can also support corporate premises, private estates, residential developments and suitable outdoor events where there are extensive grounds, remote boundaries or restricted areas to monitor. K9 units may strengthen existing security arrangements where a site has experienced trespass, theft, vandalism, protest activity or other security breaches. Before recommending security guard dogs, we review the site, access arrangements, patrol areas and identified risks to make sure the service is suitable, safe and properly planned. All K9 operations follow strict UK standards for dog-handling security:
