Overview

Static Guarding across the UK.

Static guarding places a dedicated officer at a fixed point on your site, such as a gatehouse, lobby, compound gate or loading bay, to control access and keep watch. It suits sites with one main entrance, high-value stock or equipment, or a steady flow of visitors, contractors and deliveries.

Your static security guard checks identification and permits, keeps visitor and vehicle logs, monitors CCTV where fitted, and raises the alarm or calls the emergency services when needed. Duties, break cover and escalation contacts are set out in assignment instructions before the first shift, and our operations team checks in with lone officers through the night.

Static guarding is part of our SIA-approved Security Guarding service. Officers are BS 7858-vetted and can be combined with mobile patrols or alarm response so that a site is still covered when the post is unstaffed.

UK standards

  • UK compliance

    Right licence for the post

A static guard supplied under contract needs an SIA security guarding licence. Door supervisors can also guard, but a guard cannot work as a door supervisor at licensed premises.

  • UK compliance

    BS 7499:2020

The code of practice for static guarding covers assignment instructions, handovers, supervision and incident records.

  • UK compliance

    Lone working

Overnight posts are often lone working. Welfare checks and an agreed escalation route are part of a properly run post.

FAQs

Static Guarding: questions.

All FAQs
What does a static security guard do?

A static guard stays at an agreed post to control access, check passes and permits, keep logs, watch CCTV where fitted and respond to incidents in line with the assignment instructions. They may also carry out short internal checks if the instructions allow it.

Is static guarding available 24/7?

Yes. Posts can be staffed for set hours, overnight, at weekends or around the clock, with shift handovers recorded so nothing is missed between officers.

Can a static guard monitor our CCTV?

Yes, where it is part of the agreed duties. If the role involves monitoring public space CCTV under contract, the operator needs the relevant SIA licence, and footage must be handled under UK GDPR.

What does a static security guard actually do?

A static guard provides continuous on-site protection – monitoring entrances, checking visitors, patrolling, responding to incidents and safeguarding people and assets.

Are your static guards SIA-licensed?

Yes. Every officer we deploy is fully SIA-licensed and vetted to BS 7858.

Can your guards handle customer service tasks?

Absolutely. Many clients use our guards as both front-of-house presence and security professionals.

Do static guards work nights?

Yes – we provide 24/7 static guarding, including overnight protection.

How quickly can you deploy a static guard?

We can often deploy same-day or next-day depending on your location and needs.
